Catching Kayla

Kayla Montgomery

This is an incredible story - one of the fastest high school runners in the US, and the 2014 North Carolina state champion in the 3200 metres, is named Kayla Montgomery.  Any high school runner who ascends to this level of competition is amazing.  But something makes Kayla different - she has MS.  Diagnosed when she was 14, she had to give up competitive soccer because she could no longer play contact sports.  In her first year of high school, she approached her school's running coach who assessed her as "at best, an average" runner.  She told him to push her, to "not hold back", because she did not know how much longer she would be able to run.  She got faster and faster, and her story is extremely inspiring.  Click to watch it.
